About Jerry
Jerry Turek currently works as an assistant coach at the North Shore Winter Club. Jerry previously worked as an assistant coach at the Blue Mountain Racquet Club under the guidance of Tony Macken. Jerry attended the University of Illinois on a tennis scholarship and graduated in 1998 with a degree in Sports Management. He also currently is enrolled in the Firefighters Academy and holds NFPA 1001 and Firefighter Standard I & II certificates.
Jerry has over twenty years of playing experience at the junior, college and professional levels. As a junior Jerry was one of BC's top players and achieved numerous provincial and national rankings in a variety of age categories. While attending the University of Illinois Jerry played at the top levels of NCAA Division I Collegiate Tennis and went on to play on the professional tour achieving a ATP Doubles ranking of #170 in 2001. As a result of his performance on the pro tour, Jerry was selected to be a member of Canada's 2001 Davis Cup team. In 2002, Jerry played the BC Provincial Open Circuit and ended the year ranked #6 in singles and #3 in doubles. Jerry now lives in Coquitlam and is a member of the Blue Mountain Racquet Club.
Jerry's coaching philosophy is to keep it simple and he enjoys working with high performance junior players, "having played for the time that I have, I feel that my experience can help with juniors that are dedicated to achieving higher levels".
